In an ongoing effort to promote Halal and Muslim-friendly industries in the region, the Iloilo Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) of the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) organized a Training on Halal Food Preparation and Food Service. Led by In collaboration with the DOST Iloilo Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) and the DOST VI-Science and Technology Service Section (STSS), the training program was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of stakeholders and help boost our economic potential in the Halal industry.
Ms. Norjanah C. Barosa, the Assistant Team Leader of DOST VI’s Halal Program Technical Team, led the training covering lectures on Halal concepts and principles, food preparation and handling, and Muslim-friendly services. To help them apply the Halal principles in everyday food service operations, participants from the food manufacturing and service industries also participated in interactive activities. A highlight of the activity was the workshop on the development and presentation of Halal food recipes, providing practical experience in Halal food preparation.
The training not only enriched the participants’ understanding of Halal practices but also and elevated their understanding of the culture of our Muslim brothers and sisters and fostered meaningful discussions.
Recognizing the growing demand for Halal products and services, this initiative is part of DOST VI’s commitment to enhancing our food industry practitioners’ expertise and responsiveness to the needs of the Muslim community.
