The Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC) of the Regional Development Council Western Visayas organized a Consultation Workshop for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap Development on July 26, 2024, at the RDC Hall, NEDA Regional Office No. VI, Iloilo City.

The workshop was attended by 37 representatives from various government agencies, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), R&D consortia, and corporate institutions. Participants from each sector represented the nine (9) components of the AI Development Plan: Governance and Ethics, Talent Development, R&D on AI, Application of AI in the Industry, Awareness, Acceptance, and Use of AI, AI Startup Development, AI Infrastructure Development, Data Sharing and Access, and Partnerships and Linkages.

Furthermore, during the event, Dr. Felipe P. Vista IV, a Balik Scientist from Northern Iloilo State University, discussed the Policies on Models of Artificial Intelligence (AI) locally and internationally. He also highlighted the uses of AI, along with its advantages and disadvantages in the industry and society as a whole. For 2024, this initiative of the RRDIC is set to be a transformative part that will leverage the power of AI to drive economic growth, improve public services, and enhance technological innovation. Through strategic investments and collaborations, it aims to empower the region in AI innovation and application, setting a benchmark for future technological advancements in Western Visayas.
