The DOST VI conducts Orientation on the Online Application for License to Operate (LTO) and Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) during the MSME Development Week Celebration with the theme: Innovate to Elevate MSMEs.
Dr. May Rose O. Suerte, Assistant Regional Director for Finance and Administrative Services welcomes the participants from different provinces. She highlighted the support of DOST VI to our MSMEs in the region and the campaign to avail these services to level up production, improve product quality and comply with regulatory and statutory requirements.
In the Philippines, it is mandatory for establishments involved in various food-related activities such as manufacturing, importing, exporting, distributing, and selling to obtain a License to Operate (LTO) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) is also required for a specific food product to be legally sold or manufactured in the Philippines. This certificate indicates that the FDA has reviewed the product ingredients, manufacturing process, labeling, and potential risks, and has determined that it complies with safety and quality standards.
This activity educates MSMEs about the importance of obtaining certifications (LTO and CPR) from the FDA and the step-by-step process of the online application process. Additionally, the SETUP Program, DOST RSTL Services and DOST-Developed Food Technologies are also presented (JNBolencis)
