LOOK: In its continued efforts to strengthen and extend science and technology (S&T) services to the countryside, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Capiz and Iloilo conducts the Community Life Competence Process (CLCP) with Gender Conscientization Training as part of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program in the provinces.

The two-day training at Brgy. Aglalana, Dumarao, Capiz was attended by barangay officials of Brgy. Aglalana, Capiz State University Dumarao Campus and Aglalana Integrated School faculty and teaching staff, as well as the Indigenous People Community (Panay Bukidnon and Ati). The CLCP processes will allow the community to realize their capacity to respond to their challenges, build a common vision, act, and adapt. Together with a strength-based way of working, it will help the community identify their capacity to address their issues and implement ways and strategies using their given strengths.

On the other hand, the training in Tubungan, Iloilo, was attended by representatives from the different sectors including women, youth, micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs, farmers, Indigenous People, barangay and municipal officials, and gov’t workers from national agencies.

The conduct of CLCP will aid in identifying appropriate S&T interventions that can help in addressing the community’s identified problems while also assisting to boost and develop the current strengths through an efficient and successful implementation of the DOST CEST program.
