The Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Offices (PSTOs) in Aklan, Antique, Iloilo and Negros Occidental assists 4 local products through packaging and labeling assistance.

The products provided with assistance are produced by community beneficiaries under DOST’s Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program. These are Dried Dilis by Hub-eag it Kababayenhan sa Jawili Fisherfolks Fish Vendors Associations, Seaweed Chips by the University of Antique (UA) TechnoHub, Ugoy-ugoy by San Julian Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SJMPC) and Smoked Fish by Peacepond Farmers Association.

As part of the package of science and technology (S&T) support provided through CEST, improvement of product packaging and labeling also incorporated to further increase its marketability.

The product packaging materials and labeling were recently officially turned-over to the beneficiaries. A program was conducted in Iloilo City to turn-over final packaging designs for Seaweed Chips, Ugoy-ugoy and Smoked Fish products while a separate program was held in Jawili, Tangalan, Aklan for Dried Dilis products.

The activities were led by the DOST VI CEST Program team, Packaging and Labeling Assistance Program team and the Aklan, Antique, Iloilo and Negros Occidental PSTOs.
