Western Visayas finalists win big at the 2023 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting Poster Contest.

Two studies from Western Visayas garnered top ranks at the recently concluded 2023 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting Poster Contest. The contest was participated by 24 aspirants from top higher education institutions, research centers, and government agencies across the three regions of the Visayas (Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas). Of the announced 14 finalists, Region VI emerged as a top contender, with Western Visayas securing first and third place in the contest respectively.

The theme of this year’s event was “Agham at Teknolohiya para sa Demokrasya (Science and Technology for Democracy),” emphasizing the crucial role of science and technology in strengthening democratic institutions and processesThis event was organized by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), in partnership with the DOST Regional Offices – Visayas Cluster, with the aim of promoting greater inclusion and welfare through innovative R&D outputs. The event, which took place on April 26-27, 2023, via Zoom and Facebook Live, generated a series of resolutions from the discussions, which will be consolidated and presented at the upcoming 45th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), which will be held on July 12-13, 2023 in Manila.
