Tumandok Crafts Industries (TCI) availed Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Product Creative Design Consultancy Program to further innovate and create fresh product ideas.

DOST-accredited consultant for Creative Design, Mr. Romulo Tapel II of TrenDisenyo, recently visited TCI to assess and examine completed prototypes for additional products. This includes high-end lamps, side table, and center tables, all constructed using recycled materials such as resin dusts, abaca fiber waste, rice hulls, crushed glass, charcoal, and reclaimed metals. He also helped build the showroom to display the finished goods and conducted a photo session to create a collection brochure.

TCI is an enterprise based in Bacolod City known for creating home furnishing and furniture using indigenous materials. Their focus is on producing frames, trays, wall decorations, and vases utilizing the resin lamination technology, which is their trademark product.

DOST’s consultancy on Product Creative Design is under the Non-food category of the Product and Process Development Consultancy Program as part of the implementation of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program 4.0 or SETUP 4.0.

Aside from availing the program, TCI is also an adopter of a DOST-funded technology on small glass crushers developed by the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUPV). With this, TCI was able to incorporate crushed glass in its designs.
