Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) through its Iloilo Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) provides funds for the upgrading of the fish processing facility of the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU)-Concepcion Campus.

The project is a public-private partnership among DOST VI, NISU Concepcion and Yamang Lupa’t Dagat Holdings, Inc. (YLD). Through the grants, NISU Concepcion intends to acquire a Water Retort System for their thermal processing line.

A project implementation meeting with the cooperating agencies was recently conducted by DOST Iloilo. The meeting discussed the reportorial requirements, the responsibilities of each party and the project guidelines.

With NISU Concepcion as primary proponent, the project primarily aims to enhance NISU’s capabilities in Fisheries education, build an industry-relevant facility that produces commercially viable products, and help partner fisherfolks. (NABFactuar/DOST VI-KMU)
