Aklan Agricultural Improvement and Marketing Cooperative (AIM Coop) sought to hold a solid waste management orientation to the local government unit (LGU) of Ibajay and Lezo, Aklan.
As the proponent of the “Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) in Selected Communities in Region VI” project, the Aklan Agricultural Improvement and Marketing Cooperative (AIM Coop) sought to hold a solid waste management orientation as part of the stated project’s Environmental and Conservation component.
Local government units (LGUs) of Ibajay and Lezo were identified as target participants as they are recipients of the bioreactor composting technology provided by the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI).
Among the objectives of the activity were to know the situation of solid waste management in Western Visayas, to familiarize the salient features of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and to learn the fundamentals of the Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS).
