Mushroom farm in Capiz signs partnership with DOST’s SETUP iFund program

Ebang’z Mushroom Farm represented by its owner, Ms. Nieva D. Dela Torre, signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VI as a beneficiary of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program Innovation-Enabling Fund or SETUP iFund.

Ms Dela Torre turned to DOST for assistance to address issues in the firm’s manufacturing process wherein it does not have the equipment with appropriate capacity to meet current demand. With this, the firm is not able to extend its market reach.

The DOST SETUP iFund project aims to upgrade Ebang’z production equipment, manufacturing processes and overall system to bridge the gap in supply and demand while ensuring that the products also comply with food safety standards and production system complexities through the adoption of other S&T-related interventions.

The firm has been a beneficiary and participant of various programs and projects from different agencies like DTI, DA and DOT. It has also already availed services from DOST such as the Packaging and Labelling assistance program and a training on Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) last 2020. This year, the firm is also enlisted for consultancy on Basic Productivity Management.
