DOST SETUP awards Certificate of Ownership to Capiz MSME

The Certificate of Ownership (COO) was awarded to Ms. Gina Dequiña of Megan’s Food Product for completing the DOST Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) Project entitled “Productivity Improvement of Production Facilities for Megan’s Pasalubong Products”.

Megan’s Food Products, a micro enterprise based in Brgy. Najus-an, Mambusao, Capiz, has been registered with the DTI since 2004. It produces and sells pasalubong products such as barquillos and barquiron which are also their best-sellers. These products are frequently ordered in bulk from several provinces in Western Visayas. Polvoron and turones de mani are two other items and primarily offered in Mambusao stores, pasalubong centers, and adjacent towns.

Megan’s had been experiencing product shortages for several years which prompted them to apply for the DOST SETUP. The project was submitted and approved in 2012 with the objective of improving product quality and production volume of the firm through the use of improved and efficient equipment and appropriate packaging. With the new technology obtained by the firm, they were able to boost production volume and hire more personnel, which complemented the upgrade of the manufacturing facility.
