DOST VI holds orientation for potential S&T consultants, trainers

As a way to encourage potential clients and trainers to be part of the services of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the DOST VI conducted an orientation on Science and Technology (S&T) services in Jordan, Guimaras, April 12.

Leading the orientation were various project assistants (PAs) and Science Research Specialists (SRSs) from the Regional Office and the Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC).

In addition, the orientation was attended by 13 potential trainers and consultants both new and old.

Said participants took part as they expressed interest in being deployed as consultants and experts under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

Among the topics of services discussed were the perspectives of the DOST, protocols for the implementation of each of the consultancy programs offered in the region, Manufacturing Productivity, Environmental Management, and Food Safety, Packaging and Labeling Assistance, Technology Training, and the DOST VI Consultancy and Training Process, and OneExpert.

Worth noting is that OneExpert is a database intended to make access to accredited experts easier to potential clients that need S&T services living outside major urban centers where most research and technical institutions are located thus bringing services of experts anywhere in the country to accomplish this.

Once potential consultants and trainers who attended the orientation decide to join the DOST programs and services, they become part of the OneExpert database.

Moreover, this activity is conducted annually in every island in Western Visayas – Panay, Negros Occidental, and Guimaras – to reach out and encourage more S&T professionals to form partnerships with the DOST to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region and potentially nationwide.
