The Department of Science and Technology (DOST VI) is still accepting entries among inventors, designers, creative researchers and student researchers in Western Visayas in line with the 2017 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) slated on August 29-31 at SM City Iloilo. The deadline of submission is extended until August 4, Friday.

The said invention contest which is in partnership with the DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) is an excellent avenue for researchers to impart science-based scientific and technological ideas developed among their inventions to the public and private sectors. These innovations are likewise breakthroughs in the academe as well as research and development, thus, keeping abreast with the recent scientific findings and trends.

The 2017 RICE winners will consist of (1) qualifier and two (2) runners-up per category. They will advance in the upcoming National Invention Contests and Exhibits (NICE) to represent the region.

Inventions will contend in the following categories: Invention Category (Tuklas Award), Utility Model Category, Industrial Design Category, Creative Research Category (Likha Award), Student Creative Research Category (Sibol Award) for College, and, Student Creative Research Category (Sibol Award) for High School.
