LOOK: DOST infosystem, laboratory services, and scholarship program showcased during a meeting with the local government unit (LGU) of Sigma, Capiz. Representing DOST VI during the meeting were Ms. Mia C. Pielago, Senior Science Research Specialist, and Ms. Gesselle R. Marcon, Science Research Specialist II who are both from the DOST Capiz Provincial Office.

The executive meeting held at the Sigma Community Heritage Center was graced by Mayor Dante Rizal A. Eslabon, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Barangay Chairmen, Barangay Secretaries and Treasurers, and Municipal Department Heads.

Ms. Pielago presented the Barangay Infosystem for Development and Accountability (BIDA), an e-governance system designed to streamline the encoding, tracking, and archiving of minutes of meetings, resolutions, and ordinances within barangays.

Additionally, she announced the opening of Junior Level Science Scholarship Online Application starting March 1-May 31, 2024. This program aims to provide scholarships to deserving and talented incoming third-year college students pursuing science and technology degrees and to cultivate a reliable pool of qualified S&T professionals to advance national development.

Subsequently, Ms. Marcon presented the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory Services focusing on the Metrology Testing Laboratory. The RSTL is composed of Microbiological Testing Laboratory (MTL), Chemical Testing Laboratory (CTL) and Metrology Laboratory (MTRL), offering comprehensive laboratory testing and calibration services to various stakeholders, including industries, academia, local government units, private institutions, and individuals in Western Visayas.
