Food safety training initiative empowers food manufacturers in Iloilo

Food manufacturers play a key role in turning raw ingredients into packaged goods that occupy the local market and supermarket shelves. Thus, it is important to guarantee the integrity and safety of these products.

To uphold the integrity of these products and adhere to established guidelines, standards and food safety measures, the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) through the Iloilo Provincial Science and Technology Office (Iloilo PSTO) and the S&T Services Section (STSS) offered Training on Food Safety 101: Basic Food Safety for Food Manufacturers.

Through this public training, food manufacturers in Iloilo received fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to recognize possible hazards, implement preventive measures, establish traceability protocols, and handle safety-related incidents. Basic good manufacturing practices such as hygiene standards, sanitation protocols, and facility maintenance were emphasized.

These valuable insights and interactive activities were shared by the resource person, Ms. Ailyn C. Casia, Project Technical Assistant I of DOST VI. The face-to-face training was conducted in the morning at the DOST VI Training Room, Magsaysay Village, Lapaz, Iloilo City while an online orientation was conducted in the afternoon.
