Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Capiz are now better equipped in product presentation and market readiness through the training on Packaging 101 and Mandatory Labeling Requirements organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Capiz and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Capiz.

Ms. Mia C. Pielago, Capiz PSTO Senior SRS leads the discussion on Packaging and Labeling.

The training aimed to help MSMEs elevate the quality and marketability of their products through proper packaging and accurate labeling which are key steps in attracting consumers and ensuring compliance.

Ms. Mia C. Pielago, Senior Science Research Specialist of DOST Capiz, led the technical discussions,  emphasizing the critical role of packaging in both protecting products and shaping consumer perception. The session provided practical insights into various packaging types, from jars and pouches to vacuum-sealed bags, and guided MSMEs on how to assess the appropriateness of their current packaging solutions.

Following the training, packaging supplier EntrePouch, introduced their products and services to the participants which gave MSMEs the opportunity to explore practical packaging options and connect directly with a supplier that caters to small businesses. This interaction helped bridge the gap between technical knowledge and accessible solutions, allowing participants to make informed choices for their products.

Moreover, the training also highlighted the growing need for a dedicated packaging facility in Capiz to help local producers access affordable, quality packaging services.

With renewed knowledge and fresh ideas, MSMEs left the session better equipped on how to improve their product presentation and stand out in an increasingly competitive market landscape. (PMOBautista, MACGregorios/DOST Capiz).
