The Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI), in collaboration with the local government unit of Roxas City, is set to launch a transformative project titled “A Smarter and Safer Tourism Experience: Digital Guide App” under the Grants-In-Aid Program.
DOST VI is leading the initiative with a twofold approach: the development of an advanced digital platform and the adoption of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for mobile food vendors. Through integrating digital governance and innovation in agri-fishery-based food safety, the project not only aims to boost economic opportunities but also ensures public health and safety. This effort aligns with DOST VI’s commitment to fostering science-driven community development, further reinforced by its Food-on-the-Road Innovation and Processing Facility (FoodtrIP) project, which supports Roxas City’s locally produced agri/aqua-based food products.

At the heart of this project is the Roxas ICT System, a mobile application featuring two key modules. The Food Safety Rating Module ensures transparency and promotes high food safety standards among local vendors, while the Digital Tour Guide Module enhances visitor experiences by providing detailed information about cultural and historical landmarks.
This project by DOST VI and LGU Roxas City blends digital innovation and food safety to enhance tourism while supporting local businesses. Through the Roxas ICT System and FoodtrIP, it promotes sustainable growth, public health, and cultural preservation, setting a new standard for tourism in Roxas City, Capiz.
