The Department of Science and Technology VI-Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (DOST VI-RSTL) conducted a week-long intensive training on Microbiological testing for the technical staff of Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department, Laboratory Facilities for Advanced Aquaculture Technologies (SEAFDEC/AQD-LFAAT) last October 21-25, 2024.
The training focused on the proper conduct of microbiological test methods on water and food samples in accordance with PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and requirements of regulatory agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). There was also an exchange of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to enhance risk management and quality assurance in the laboratory. SEAFDEC/AQD is a member of the Western Visayas Laboratory Network (WVLabNet) and was represented by Ms. Sheena Kritz L. Triño and Ms. Hannah Mae C. Arganioza, Laboratory Analysts. Efforts through these micro-interactions will enhance the quality of laboratory services in Western Visayas, leading to macro-developments in various higher education institutions (HEIs) and other private and public institutions.
