Women-led tech start-up paves way for regenerative fashion in Iloilo
In partnership with the Department of Science and Technology VI, the Regenerative Philippines Innovation Workshop was spearheaded by Panublix Innovations Inc., a pioneering women-led technology start-up based in Iloilo City. The workshop marked a pivotal moment in the local fashion industry, driving sustainable growth and innovation in the textile industry.
The Panublix Weaving Enterprise Digital Enabler (PWEDE) App was also launched during the event. The development of the PWEDE app was made possible through the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD)’s Women-Helping-Women: Innovating Social Enterprises (WHWise) Program.
The PWEDE App is a flagship program and digital platform designed to empower weaving artisan enterprises by digitizing their enterprises, granting them access to the digital economy while providing vital links to tropical textiles and online markets.
During the workshop, Engr. Sheila L. Oberio, the Provincial Science and Technology Director of DOST-Iloilo shared a message of support for local technology start-ups and highlighted that leveraging technology and fostering regenerative practices help restore ecosystems and bolster innovation while supporting local communities.
Regenerative fashion not only brings environmental benefits but also redefines our relationship with nature and society. The movement also help inspire a new generation of fashion leaders committed to sustainability, innovation and social responsibility. Panublix Innovations Inc. Co-founder and CEO, Ms. Noreen Marian Bautista also emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering a net positive impact on rural artisans, farmers, and the environment. (RJDArcillas/IloiloPSTO)
