The Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI)-Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) has consistently supported students through its internship program. Recently, the laboratory mentored BS Biology major in Microbiology students from the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) during their 80-hour internship at the Microbiological Testing Laboratory of the DOST VI-RSTL.

The internship helped them understand Good Laboratory Practices, various test methods and procedures in the analysis of food and water samples, quality assurance activities, and documentation in the laboratory. The students also had hands-on experience in the laboratory analysis of water samples.

Over the years, the DOST VI-RSTL has accommodated interns from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS), Guimaras State University (GSU), West Visayas State University (WVSU), University of San Agustin (USA), Central Philippine University (CPU) and University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Throughout the course of the program, essential skills and knowledge tailored to each student were provided. Aside from accommodating student interns, the DOST VI-RSTL also supports other institutions such as University of St. La Salle, Guimaras State University, University of Antique, and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) to enhance their laboratory competencies. It engages in benchmarking activities in alignment with PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. (MBBFusin/RSTL)
