The Department of Science and Technology (DOST ) – Aklan Provincial Office conducted the Community Life Competence Process (CLCP) with Gender Conscientization in Brgy. Medina, Madalag, Aklan on June 5-7, 2024, at Medina Integrated School. The program was attended by 52 participants composed of officials from the barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan, and the Local Government Unit (LGU), professionals, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, students, out-of-school youth, and the LGBTQ+ community.

The program was made possible through the combined efforts of Mr. Jeffrey Orbista, Punong Barangay of Medina, and DOST Aklan led by Assistant Provincial Director Dr. Antonette U. Donato, together with Ms. Eunice Raiza R. Panagsagan, Science Research Specialist I, and two (2) project staff, Ms. Arian R. Silvestre and Ms. Meikka D. Villanueva.

CLCP is a tool for identifying and assessing the needs, issues, opportunities, strengths, and aspirations of a community. The workshop aims to raise awareness of familiar gender stereotypes and misconceptions and the gender division of labor in productive and reproductive work within the household and communities through sessions on basic differentiation and understanding of sex and gender and profiling of gender and sex roles.
