La Castellana RHU receives RxBox device to improve healthcare access
La Castellana, Negros Occidental – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Negros Occidental Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) deployed the RxBox device to improve healthcare services in La Castellana Rural Health Unit (RHU) on February 24.
Engr. Carl Alfred O. Abaring and Engr. John Michael N. Tingson, both Project Technical Assistant I from the Negros Occidental PSTO, conducted an orientation on the device’s usage and user interface with the RHU staff composed of nurses, midwives, and health aides and headed by Dr. Gian Carlo R. Ezpeleta, Municipal Health Officer.
The RxBox is a multi-functional program that combines a biomedical device, an electronic medical record system, and telemedicine training. It is designed to provide residents of remote and underserved areas with better access to essential healthcare services.
This initiative is part of DOST’s efforts towards a “Smarter Philippines” and supports the Department of Health’s call for Kalusugang Pangkalahatan or Universal Health Care.
The deployment of the RxBox device is a significant step towards improving healthcare access and quality for residents of La Castellana and surrounding communities. (RRRGarcia/Negros Occidental PSTO)
