Ms. Kay Kristyle Cainglet discusses the basics of packaging and labeling, providing participants with the foundational knowledge needed for creating effective label designs for MSMEs.

A two-day training on Creative Graphic Design for Product Packaging and Labeling led by the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) and the Department of Trade and Industry – Capiz (DTI Capiz) was conducted in its goal to help Capiz local graphic artists and firm designers to improve the visual appeal and aesthetics of local products. 

This initiative provided the participants with a deeper understanding of how effective packaging and clear labeling can enhance the appeal and competitiveness of products, covering topics including packaging basics, food labeling regulations, and the principles of creative design. 

DOST VI packaging experts, Ms. Kay Kristyle Cainglet, Ms. Shanon Naval, and Ms. Faye Camille Jimenea, guided participants through the functions of packaging, labeling requirements, and design techniques where they took part in a hands-on workshop on creating labels for a fictional berry jam product, putting their skills into practice.

Throughout the event, participants received valuable feedback from the resource speakers which allowed them to refine their designs and better understand the balance between creativity and regulatory compliance. The workshop provided them with practical experience and helped them grasp how correct design plays a crucial role in the success of a product in the marketplace. 

By the end of the training, Capiz local graphic artists and firm designers were empowered to apply design principles in supporting local enterprises and contributing to the province’s growing creative and innovation ecosystem.
