
Academicians, researchers, industry stakeholders convene for the 2025 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting
ILOILO CITY – Academicians, researchers, and industry stakeholders convene for the 2025 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting (RSM) on April 29-30, 2025, at Diversion 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
This year’s Visayas RSM is organized by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) in partnership with the DOST Visayas Cluster.
With the theme, “Bioscience Innovations: Transforming Enterprise Ecosystems for Wealth Creation,” the Visayas RSM emphasizes the transformative potential of scientific advances in biology and its related fields in meeting community needs, strengthening resilience, and promoting sustainable growth.
“This meeting is not just about generating knowledge but ensuring that these directly address the problems and holistically benefit all sectors,” shares Acd. Jaime C. Montoya, President of NAST PHL.
Acd. Montoya also encouraged all participants to take the opportunity to forge meaningful collaborations, inspire action, and develop science-informed, culturally attuned decisions to empower communities and drive the country’s overall sustainable development.
The two-day event will feature plenary sessions discussing various bioscience solutions and innovations in the Visayas region and a scientific poster session.
DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. expressed his support for the Visayas RSM. In his video message he says, “Over the next two days, we look forward for meaningful and thought-provoking conversations. We are honored to be joined by esteemed Filipino scientists and experts to share valuable insights on biosciences and their impact.”
Gracing the activity are academicians from NAST PHL, researchers from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), industry stakeholders, and entrepreneurs in the Visayas region. Also present are DOST officials, namely, NAST PHL Director, Ms. Luningning E. Samarita-Domingo; DOST VI Regional Director and DOST-Negros Island Region (NIR) Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Rowen R.
