Founders, enablers, and the Iloilo business community gathered for Angel Investing 101, a casual but engaging discussion about the opportunities that it can open up for startups.

Angel Investing is a term used in business that refers to an early-stage investment providing capital to a startup in exchange for ownership equity or convertible debt. It provides access to the newest ideas, trends, technologies, and innovations.

Jahleel-An Burao, CPA, head of business operations at Kaya Founders, a Manila-based startup investment firm, shared her expertise on early-stage investing, finding the right partners in the startup ecosystem, and addressed questions from aspiring entrepreneurs and potential investors in attendance.

DOST VI Regional Director Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga, with personnel from DOST Iloilo S&T Provincial Office, joined the gathering to touch base with local startups and other partners as part of its initiatives to support and strengthen startup development in the region.

The event, spearheaded by FyrLab Accelerator—a DOST-funded startup enabler—aimed to spark interest and raise awareness about angel investing as a vital financial and strategic resource for driving startup growth in the region. (JDenila/DOST Iloilo |  Photos by JRDAdorador/DOST VI-KMO)
