Nueva Valencia, Guimaras – To provide a comprehensive science and technology assistance, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Guimaras conducted the community development activities for selected residents of Barangay Lanipe, Nueva Valencia in the province of Guimaras.

Punong Barangay Vilma Clavines and 48 selected participants composed of persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, students, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and farmers, took part in the Community Life Competence Process (CLCP).

This participatory tool enables communities to set goals, assess their strengths, and take collective action to address challenges, fostering resilience and competence. By empowering communities to achieve their goals sustainably, CLCP serves as a practical guide for collective growth and development.

Through the application of CLCP, DOST Guimaras will identify and implement a package of interventions under the CEST program, or Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) for Brgy. Lanipe. (MASASalazar, Photos by PAUSambas/DOST Guimaras PSTO)
