

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI), represented by Regional Director Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) – Western Visayas today, January 30.
The AFRREDN led by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in line with the implementation of the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AFMA) or RA 8435, aims to strengthen the regional research, development and extension priority setting and implementation of projects in the agri-fisheries sector. The network will be leading the direction and efforts to facilitate the effective transfer and promotion of relevant impactful technologies to the crop, livestock and fisheries sector.
The MOU signing was held at the DOST VI Regional Office and was attested by Linkages and External Relations Office (LERO) Head, Ms. Desiree Faith N. Sy, Engr. Hazel Lynn C. Maganto, Ms. Isabel Grace T. Gatpatan, and Ms. Chelcie P. Pahila of Research, Development, and Innovation Management Section, and AFRREDN Focal Person Mr. John A. Amorsolo, Senior Science Research Specialist and Ms. Ritz C. Capitle, AFRREDN Secretariat Staff.
The partnership is in line with the DOST VI’s thrust in expanding linkages in promoting and fostering the research, development and innovation culture in Western Visayas. Last October 29, 2024, the network held a ceremonial MOU signing to introduce the network to regional government agencies and other institutions. (CPPahila/RDIMS)
