On December 7, 2024, a workshop on financial sustainability was held led by financial expert Mr. Rimark B. Camulo from Capiz State University (CapSU) Central. Participants for the training included personnel from the Food-on-the-Road Innovation and Processing Facility (FoodTrIP) located in Capiz, Fisheries and Food Research Development Center (FFRDC), and the DOST Capiz. The workshop covered effective pricing strategies, financial planning, and cost analysis, specifically the pricing and costing of the FoodtrIP facility and its developed products. This initiated the development of the FoodtrIP Operational Guide, a key resource for onboarding technology adopters and serving clients. This session provided participants with the financial knowledge and expertise needed to optimize operations, drive profitability, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the FoodtrIP facility and its products.
Complementing the aforementioned training session workshop were training on critical topics such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety protocols, efficient facility operations, and modern processing techniques for 17 mussel growers and producers. Participants engaged in practical demonstrations on preserving freshness, exploring packaging solutions, and developing value-added products like vacuum-fried mussels. The training emphasized innovative technologies and sustainable practices to boost production efficiency and expand market opportunities. This session equipped participants with the knowledge and skills needed to improve product quality, increase competitiveness, and meet the rising demand for high-quality mussel products in both local and global markets.
The FoodtrIP initiative equipped local mussel growers, producers, and project staff with practical knowledge and financial strategies to enhance product quality, optimize operations, and ensure sustainability. Through fostering innovation and competitiveness, the workshops helped participants meet the rising demand for high-quality seafood while supporting the long-term goals of the FoodTrIP facility.
