The 2024 Idlab Awards marked a groundbreaking milestone with the launch of the Visayan Journal of Science, Technology, and Innovation (VJSTI) website.

The Visayan Journal of Science, Technology, and Innovation (VJSTI) was established by the Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC) with the vision of creating the first-ever regional research journal focused on advancing science, technology, and innovation in the Visayas. This pioneering project was initially hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and is now based at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI Office.

This pioneering platform serves as a hub for cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and collaboration opportunities. Faculty, researchers, and students from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are encouraged to publish impactful studies spanning diverse fields, including health, genomics, molecular biology, math, engineering, information technology, food science, chemistry, fisheries, and agriculture.

The VJSTI is set to launch its maiden issue, featuring the articles of the following esteemed authors:

  • Mr. David Mark M. Mueller (Southland College): Impact of Neuron Count and Learning Rate on the Accuracy of a NumPy-Based Artificial Neural Network in Predictive Modeling of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
  • Dr. Reynold D. Tan (University of the Philippines): Value Chain Analysis of the Philippine Native Chicken Industry in Western Visayas Region, Philippines
  • Engr. Russel M. Dela Torre (Carlos Hilado Memorial State University): Wireless Monitoring Devices for Regulation of Vehicular Events with Internet-of-Things (IOT)
  • Mr. Dave Allan A. Tagacay (Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology): Autofeed. IOT-Enabled Chicken Feeder using Raspberry Pi

The launch was graced by Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro, Managing Editor of VJSTI, and Dr. Christopher Marlowe A. Caipang, Editor-in-Chief. (IGTGatpatan/ KFAD)
