DaluBasa, fresh off their grand prize win at the recent Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program (STTP) Demo Day in Iloilo City, carries on their winning streak at the first ever 2024 Innovation and Technology Transfer Summit – Visayas Pitch Quest held in Cebu City on December 3, 2024.
Springing from their team name “DaluBasa”, a blended word of “dalubhasa” which means proficient, and “basa” which means read, the founding team aims to develop innovative technology-enabled English and Filipino literacy resources envisioning a strengthened national literacy to empower individuals and the community as a whole through the launch of READout (Reading Enhancement Assistance DigiApp), an educational application designed to improve reading skills in young people.
This innovative approach stems from their realization of the existing educational crisis in the country as pre-service/student teachers, where students have poor reading literacy linked to inadequate, lack of quality, and unengaging reading resources.
Team DaluBasa received a certificate of plaque and a cash prize worth ₱10,000 as their pitch resonated deeply with the distinguished panel of judges in the Pitch Quest competition.
The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office VI (DOST VI) is celebrating the success of the DaluBasa team, comprised of DOST scholars namely Glyja Gem D. Amada, Kristine Joy R. Cenit, Genevieve Marie B. Tampos, Jey G. Eleccion, Marefe Genaen B. Ibit, Ma. Grezil Faith M. Estrellanes, and Mary Fer I. Baylen.
Congratulations, DaluBasa! Your passion for education and commitment to innovation are truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact your project will have on the future of education in the country. (NFactuar/GSNiervo,KMO)
