Capiz businesses are redefining their market reach, not just through hard work but with the power of good packaging and labeling. The Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) recently held a Packaging and Mandatory Labeling Training, designed to help local local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) make a lasting impression in competitive markets. Ms. Juafe M. Abareles, Capiz Provincial Science and Technology Director, spearheaded the training equipped businesses with skills to ensure their products are safe, visually appealing, and regulatory-compliant—benefits that can open doors to new customer bas
Participants from Capiz State University’s Agribusiness Incubator, who produce a variety of regional products like peanuts, balut (fertilized duck eggs), cacao, banana chips, and calamansi juice, discovered the impact that thoughtful packaging can have on their businesses. During the training, participants were enlightened on selecting the appropriate packaging for different products, enhancing not only the look but also the shelf life and quality of their goods. PD Abareles emphasized that good packaging is more than decoration— it is about crafting a first impression that builds trust and keeps customers coming back.
For the MSMEs, this training offers lasting advantages. With new insights and practical skills, these local businesses are now equipped to compete on a larger stage, from local stalls to national markets. Refining the packaging and labeling strategies does not only protect the products but also invest in their brand’s future, creating products that stand out on shelves and stay in customers’ minds. Through this DOST VI initiative, the MSMEs in Capiz are poised to unlock greater opportunities and growth. (PMOBautista, DOST Capiz)
