Capiz’s vibrant food and service industry recently took a significant step towards global recognition by participating in a specialized training session on Halal Food Preparation and Service Standards. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI), this training equipped local businesses with the knowledge to meet Halal certification requirements, enhancing their ability to attract diverse customers and tap into the growing market for Halal-certified services. By aligning with these standards, Capiz establishments are now better positioned to expand their reach and achieve broader recognition in the global market.
Ms. Norjanah C. Barosa, Assistant Team Leader of DOST VI’s Halal Program Technical Team, led the training and provided comprehensive insights into the essential principles of Halal food preparation, handling, and service management. Participants, including chefs, kitchen staff, servers, and food producers, gained practical knowledge on sourcing Halal ingredients, preventing cross-contamination, and ensuring food safety throughout the entire process.
By adhering to strict Halal guidelines, food establishments in Capiz can not only cater to the Muslim community but also attract a broader market of Halal-conscious consumers, both locally and internationally. This initiative has the potential to boost the province’s economy and tourism industry, positioning Capiz as a Halal-friendly destination.
Importantly, the concept of “Halal for everyone” highlights the universal appeal of Halal standards. Beyond religious considerations, these standards emphasize cleanliness, ethical sourcing, and quality assurance, benefiting all consumers by promoting food safety and enhancing overall dining experiences.
