Taking a significant step in advancing research and development in Western Visayas, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region VI has officially joined the Western Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (WVCIEERD) as its newest member institution. To mark this milestone, WVCIEERD and TESDA Region VI conducted an Onboarding Orientation followed by a Seminar on Writing R&D Proposals for Funding at Smallville 21 Hotel Iloilo on October 25, 2024, which focused on enhancing TESDA’s capacity to contribute impactful research aligned with national funding standards in the region.

TESDA Assistant Regional Director, Dir. Esther B. Babalo, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, encouraging TESDA personnel to use the membership in the consortium as a means to further elevate research quality. Participants from TESDA’s various offices and training centers were introduced to WVCIEERD’s mission, vision, and goals, as well as best practices in R&D proposal writing.

This collaboration underscores TESDA’s commitment to innovation. Acting ROD Chief Ms. Cecilia C. Burdeos expressed gratitude to WVCIEERD for its support through highlighting how TESDA’s involvement in the consortium is expected to foster stronger R&D initiatives and generate practical solutions for community needs across Western Visayas (MDTEscaran, RDIMS).
