The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Antique Provincial Office extends a warm welcome to Dr. Andrea Roxanne Jocsing Anas, a returning Filipino scientist under the DOST Balik Scientist Program. Dr. Anas will be hosted by the University of Antique-Hamtic Campus for a one-year engagement starting this October 2024.

Dr. Anas, a registered chemist with a Ph.D. in Environmental Materials Science, brings a wealth of experience. Previously an assistant professor at Nagoya University, she currently works as a researcher at Meijo University’s Faculty of Pharmacy in Japan.

As a Balik Scientist, Dr. Anas will collaborate with the University of Antique-Hamtic Campus on research projects focusing on drug discovery, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. These areas directly align with the program’s goal of bolstering research and development efforts in the regions.

The DOST Balik Scientist Program is a valuable initiative that encourages Filipino scientists abroad to return and share their expertise. This program fosters knowledge transfer and accelerates scientific progress in the country.
