Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo B. Benitez and Punong Barangay Yolanda T. Noble receives funding support from the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) for two (2) Grants-in-Aid Projects on June 19, 2024.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City will implement the project “Upgrading the Terracotta Pottery Industry in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City,” which has been granted with funding of P2,972,916.00 to establish a pottery facility with a Shuttle-Type Kiln to address the air pollution in the production. This project can help the local artisans preserve their traditional pottery techniques while allowing for innovation and modern adaptations to improve their product quality.
Additionally, LGU Bacolod City will also carry out the project “Accelerate Leadership for Philippine Startup Advancement (ALPHA) Bacolod Accelerator,” which has been allocated P1,500,000.00 in funding for the first year of establishment of the technology startup accelerator hub in the region. The Bacolod ALPHA Accelerator can have significant positive impacts on the local economy and innovation ecosystem by supporting entrepreneurs, technology development, job creation and collaboration among businesses, educational institutions, and government bodies.
