Aklan fisherfolk receive training on advanced oyster sauce production

Altavas, Aklan – The Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) through the Aklan Provincial Science and Technology Office (Aklan PSTO), empowered the Altavas Small Fisherman’s Association (ASFA) with new skills and knowledge through a training session on “Technology Training on Advanced Processing Methods on Oyster Sauce Production.”

Held on February 29, 2024, at the Oyster Production, Processing, and Marketing Facility  in Linayasan, Altavas, the training equipped 19 participants with the fundamentals of oyster sauce production, including process demonstrations and hands-on activities. The resource person was Ms. Ernestina M. Peralta, a researcher from the University of the Philippines-Visayas, assisted by Ms. Eunice Raiza R. Panagsagan, Ms. Meikka D. Villanueva, and Ms. Arian R. Silvestre, from Aklan PSTO.

This initiative is part of DOST VI’s ongoing efforts to promote science, technology, and innovation (STI) in the region. By providing new opportunities and resources, such training programs aim to improve the lives and livelihoods of Filipinos, particularly those in communities like Altavas. (IASacapaño/Aklan PSTO)
