Greatfoods Concepts, Inc., the company behind many of Iloilo’s popular restaurants such as Bourbon Street Bar & Grill, adopts the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s (DOST-FNRI) Iron Rice Premix Technology.

In line with the adoption of the technology, the firm together with the DOST Iloilo Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) recently attended a technology transfer training on Iron Rice Premix conducted by DOST-FNRI on February 6-8, 2024.

The developed iron-rich premix is a practical and cost-effective solution to the ongoing public health challenge of iron deficiency.

The technology transfer training included hands-on technical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing to equip participants with the necessary skills to incorporate Iron-Rice Premix into their manufacturing operations effectively. The participants also received guidance on quality control measures, regulatory compliance, and marketing strategies to promote the adopted technology.

The DOST-FNRI develops technologies to produce nutritious, safe, and affordable food products and transfers these technologies and products for commercial production and distribution to help improve the nutritional status of Filipino communities.
