The Aklan Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) of the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) inks agreement with the Aklan State University (ASU) to provide science and technology (S&T) assistance to Brgys. Bacan and Mangan, Banga, Aklan.
As part of DOST’s Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program, the project will establish an Agri-based Waste Management Resource Center, where the bioreactor technology developed by the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) will be deployed. The bioreactor technology converts biodegradable and agricultural wastes to sustainable compost.
Other DOST technologies that will be utilized are the E-Nutribun technology of the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Carrageanan Plant Growth Promoter (CPGP) technology of the DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Stations or STARBOOKS of the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), DOST Courseware in Science and Mathematics of the DOST- Science Education Institute (SEI), and others targeted to help local farmers, schools, and the target communities in terms of livelihood opportunities, human resource development, and health and nutrition.
