Teachers and faculty members of Bari Elementary School and Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) officials of Brgy. Bari, Sibalom, Antique participates in two (2) separate Information Communication Technology (ICT) trainings.

This includes the training for Barangay Infosystem for Development Accountability (BIDA) and the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS).

BIDA is an e-governance system developed by the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) that can be used to create necessary barangay documents, such as minutes of meetings, resolutions, and clearances. The system can improve encoding, tracking, and archiving of barangay documents and files.

STARBOOKS, on the other hand, is a technology developed by the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) to make science and technology (S&T) education and learning resources more accessible offline especially for geographically-isolated schools. By making such resources within easier reach, STARBOOKS may also be able to develop interests in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The trainings were conducted in line with the project “Pottery Steps Towards Progress through CEST (Community Empowerment through Science and Technology)”. Computer units installed with the corresponding systems were also turned over to the beneficiaries.

Both trainings were spearheaded by staff from DOST Antique Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) and representatives from the University of Antique (UA) and were held at Bari Elementary School and Brgy. Hall of Bari. (DOST VI-KMU)
