The Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter (CPGP) technology was introduced to Chandy’s Integrated Farm in Brgy. Panitan, Capiz by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program 4.0 Innovation-Enabling Fund (SETUP 4.0 iFund).
The project entitled “Product and Process Improvement of Chandy’s Integrated Farm” aims to improve the product and process of the farm mainly through the adoption of the Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter.
The CPGP technology is a DOST-developed technology that can induce resistance against pests and diseases in rice. It can also increase the yield from 15-30%. With the SETUP 4.0 iFund assistance, Ms. Princess Dianne B. Calanza, farm owner, aims to improve their fresh produce and farm processes through the adoption of the S&T related interventions.
Chandy’s Integrated Farm envisions to be an inspiration to other farmers and develop a replicable income generating and sustainable farm. The proprietor has been awarded the Young Farmers Challenge in 2021 by the Department of Agriculture Region VI. The farm also has been accredited by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and TESDA as a Learning Site for Agriculture and Farm School, respectively, and has been in partnership with different agencies in providing various agricultural training.
The farm’s availment to SETUP 4.0 iFund was formalized through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last 2022. The program targets to improve Chandy’s product and process, and further develop it to achieve its goals. (DOST VI-KMU)
