Iloilo Mission Hospital takes part in research SOP workshop

A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) workshop was held by the Regional Ethics Monitoring Board Region VI’s (REMB VI) Regional Committee on Information Dissemination, Training, and Advocacy (RCIDTA) for members of Iloilo Mission Hospital Research Ethics Committee (IMH REC).

The workshop is part of a series of trainings mandated by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) for research ethics committee members. In preparation for accreditation by the PHREB and operationalization of the research SOPs, these activities aim to enhance these processes.

In the opening remarks of Hospital Administrator Dr. Elmer Q. Pedregosa, it was expressed that the institution has long desired an organized and accredited REC which was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. It was stressed how important this is because of numerous researches to be conducted in their organization.

In the morning session of the workshop’s first day, lectures covered topics such as the PHREB accreditation program and proper SOPs. The afternoon session dealt with the workshop itself, which assessed the completeness and format of SOPs.

Second-day activities included participants presenting their corrected SOPs and checking the intra-SOP consistency and writing and editing SOPs.(KJRGagajena/DOSTVI-KMU)
