Phase 8 orientation for Packaging and Labeling Assistance Program held in Guimaras

The Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) Science and Technology Services (STS) Section and Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) conducted an orientation on Packaging and Labeling Assistance Program for their Phase 8 beneficiaries in Jordan, Guimaras.

The activity’s primary goal is to present the programs offered under the STS Section and to orient micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) about the mandatory labeling requirements of the Philippines.

Eight MSME clients from Guimaras and DOST VI staff from the Packaging and Labeling Assistance Program and Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) were in attendance.

Among the highlights of the event were an overview of assistance offered by the DOST which comprises of technical consultancy and training, package design development, nutrition facts analysis, and shelf-life testing, and discussions on the basic principles of packaging and labeling, mandatory labeling requirements of the Philippines based on AO No. 2014-0030. More importantly, DOST VI staff also conducted one-on-one consultations for clients to determine the type of assistance they need
