RSTL hosts Online Training Course for IQA

The Department of Science and Technology Region VI – Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (DOST VI – RSTL) conducted in an online training course on Internal Quality Audit (IQA) for PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 via Zoom which serves as a continuing human resource development undertaking for its staff.

It is the primary aim of IQA training to increase participants’ knowledge and skills in conducting a quality management system audit based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and reporting based on ISO 19011:2018 on how the management system is implemented and maintained.

In attendance were the staff of the RSTL as well as participants from partner laboratories and OneLab Network members Negros Prawn Producers Cooperative (NPPC), Inc. and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC).

Serving as a resource person is Admer Rey C. Dablio, RCh, under the DOST – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI), and also Philippine Accreditation Bureau – Department of Trade and Industry (PAB-DTI) assessor in both management and chemical testing accredited under PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Discussed during the training course were a quick overview of changes and improvements on the ISO/IEC17025:2017, requirements for Internal Quality Audit, guidelines for Auditing Management System, dos and don’ts in writing Non-Conformity Statements, evaluation as well as follow-up of Corrective Actions from Internal Quality Audit, and introduction to Remote Auditing/Assessments. In addition, lectures, assignments, workshops, and simulation exercises on writing Audit Program and Audit Plan, case studies, and writing Non-Conformity Statements and conducting of Opening and Closing Meeting for Internal Audit were conducted. At the end of the training, participants were given an examination to evaluate their understanding and learnings acquired during the training.

Moreover, the online training is also accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) wherein participants who are Registered Chemists, Chemical Technicians and Medical Technologists can earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units.(KJRGagajena/DOSTVI-KMU)
