Products from various micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region were featured at the Tek-Tienda in light with the celebration of the Science Nation Tour.

“I am delighted that DOST VI spearheaded this Tek-Tienda MSME Product Fair that showcases the best products of our assisted micro, small, and medium enterprises in Western Visayas and the Negros Island Region”, equipped Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario Montejo.

He added that these MSMEs have undergone various S&T services through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

Primarily, SETUP supports MSMEs through technology transfer and technology interventions to improve product quality, develop human resources, minimize cost, enhance waste management and other operation related activities.

Since its launching in 2003, SETUP has expanded its priority areas to include food processing, furniture, gifts, decors and handicrafts, aquatic and marine, horticulture/agriculture, metals and engineering, information and communications technology (ICT) /electronics, health products, and pharmaceuticals.

Those who can apply are any companies or individual firms based in the country and wholly owned by Filipino citizens, any MSMEs that can be classified under the identified priority sectors, and an individual firm willing to apply technological improvements to existing operations.  (DOSTVI-LMLamasan)
