DOST’s Science for the People book series to feature S-PaSS
S-PaSS Project Leader and DOST VI Regional Director Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga shared experiences and insights about the nationwide implementation of S-PaSS in an interview for the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Science for the People book series. The book series is a project monitored by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).
During the interview, RD Gelonga shared the concept of S-PaSS, on how it started until it was institutionalized by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Emerging Infectious Diseases through Resolution No. 101 on February 26, 2021.
RD Gelonga highlighted that S-PaSS resolved the different issues encountered by travelers in coordinating and communicating their travel to local government units (LGUs) with different set of requirements and restrictions.
Presently, with the less restrictive travel conditions, RD Gelonga said that S-PaSS will always be ready. He also reassured that DOST will continue to develop the system to prepare and to better address needs and requirements in terms of travel.
The interview was done by CAN Creative Capital’s Buboy Figueroa. Also present during the interview were Mr. Ryan Dumpit and Mr. Garry Balinon from the S-PaSS Project Management Team.
