
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Western Visayas showcased the transformative impact of science, technology, and innovation (STI) across the region during the CY 2024–2025 Performance Review held at the DOST Central Office in Bicutan, Taguig City, on June 10, 2026.
Leading the presentation, DOST Western Visayas Regional Director Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga highlighted the agency’s key accomplishments and milestones over the past two years. The report underscored the region’s sustained efforts to strengthen research, development, and innovation; accelerate technology transfer and commercialization; and expand the adoption and utilization of science-based solutions among communities, industries, and local government units.

The presentation also emphasized how DOST programs and initiatives have translated into tangible benefits for the people of Western Visayas—creating economic opportunities, enhancing productivity, improving public services, and uplifting the lives of Filipinos through science, technology, and innovation.
The performance review was spearheaded by DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Dr. Sancho A. Mabborang, who served as the lead panel member. Joining him in the review panel were Director Cezar R. Pedraza of the Planning and Evaluation Service, Director Raqual P. Alvendia of the Finance and Management Service, Officer-in-Charge Director Robert Paulo T. Lumbatan of the Internal Audit Service, and Mr. Rodel G. Offemaria, representing Assistant Secretary Maria Teresa T. De Guzman, and DOST-NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles.
The activity provided a platform for assessing regional accomplishments, sharing best practices, and aligning strategies to further advance the Department’s mission of harnessing science, technology, and innovation for national development.
