Cyle’s Food Products brings the flavors of Capiz into a growing line of seafood-based snack chips. Based in Brgy. Sibaguan, Roxas City, Capiz, the family-managed microenterprise is owned by Ms. Cyvel Lica B. Dusaran with the help of her husband, Mr. Jules L. Dusaran. Established in 2017, the firm is known for its scallop, talaba (oyster), tahong (green mussel), crab aligue, and malunggay chips, which highlight locally sourced marine and agricultural resources.
The firm is set to transition into a more efficient and technology-assisted operation through the DOST Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) 4.0 iFund, with the firm’s project titled “Process, Product Quality, and System Improvement of Cyle’s Food Products” being approved recently with the assistance amounting to PhP 383,885.00. The project aims to improve the firm’s production system through upgraded storage, processing, and packaging technologies. It will also include DOST packaging and labeling assistance to enhance product presentation, support shelf-life improvement, and strengthen compliance with market requirements.
“The DOST SETUP program will be a great help for our business. It will provide us access to better technology and equipment, which will improve our production efficiency and product quality. Through this support, we will be able to increase our capacity, reduce operational challenges, and become more competitive in the market. DOST SETUP has given our business the opportunity to grow and innovate in ways that would have been difficult to achieve on our own,” the owners expressed the personal significance of the project.
With these S&T-driven interventions, Cyle’s Food Products is set to strengthen its production capability and market competitiveness while promoting value-added processing of local seafood resources in Capiz.
