The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Capiz, in partnership with the Fyrlab Accelerator, hosted a networking and learning session centered on turning ideas into action to bring the local innovation community together.

Set up as a fireside chat, entitled “Ideas to Impact: Intellectual Property & Digital Marketing Conversations,” the session is designed to bridge the gap between abstract concepts and real-world entrepreneurial success. The event gathered Capiz State University EyLITE incubatees, local government units (LGUs), DOST-Science Education Institute scholars and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.

The session created a relaxed space for honest conversations on protecting and promoting innovation. Ms. Marianne T. Bebit of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) unpacked the importance of safeguarding ideas through Intellectual Property (IP). One key insight emphasized was that IP not only protects the proprietor and the business but also reinforces legitimacy and helps cultivate trust and long-term customer loyalty.

Complementing the talk on IP, Ms. Jenille Cristy M. Lozada of Dame Digital Marketing Services, shared grounded, real-world insights on building presence and connecting with audiences in the digital space. Ms. Lozada stressed that finding your niche and being consistent are key to connecting with audiences online, especially as starting entrepreneurs. She explained that building a clear identity and showing up regularly lays the foundation for lasting engagement. “If you want to grow (your business), you also have to adapt to the trends,” she added, noting that staying in tune with evolving digital trends helps businesses remain relevant and strengthen their online presence.

The conversations continued during the networking session, where participants connected, exchanged ideas, and explored potential collaborations.
