The Department of Science and Technology Capiz (DOST Capiz) celebrates the impact of science, technology, and innovation (STI) through honoring exceptional MSMEs, implementing agencies, and community partners in Capiz during the 2025 Provincial SETUP and CEST Awards. The ceremony served to highlight successful S&T interventions that are fostering inclusive and resilient development across the province.

Lorna’s Processed Food Manufacturing received the SETUP PRAISE Award as DOST-Capiz PSTO recognizes its outstanding commitment to continuous improvement and innovation under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP). Proprietors Mr. Eugenio Dalida Jr. and Lucille Dalida accepted the award, cementing the enterprise’s status as a model for technology adoption.

In the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) category, Capiz State University was recognized as the Best CEST Implementing Agency for its effective delivery and widespread impact of S&T interventions in local communities. Complementing this, the Barangay Navitas LGU secured the Best CEST Beneficiary Award for its exemplary active participation and successful adoption of CEST technologies, which have significantly bolstered community development initiatives.

“Their story shows what the right attitude can do—open to science and technology, ready to innovate, and committed to constant improvement.,” DOST-Capiz PSTO Provincial Director Ms. Juafe M. Abareles said. PD Abareles also emphasized the importance of strengthening local innovation initiatives and sustaining collaborative efforts across the province. 

The ceremony underscored DOST-Capiz PSTO’s commitment to supporting local enterprises and communities through technology-driven interventions, partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives. By spotlighting outstanding SETUP and CEST partners, the awards affirms the role of science and technology in building inclusive and resilient development across the province of Capiz.
