The Department of Science and Technology Capiz (DOST Capiz) was recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) – Schools Division of Capiz for its significant contributions to the division’s programs aimed at strengthening the delivery of quality basic education in the province.

During the 2025 Partners and Stakeholders’ Recognition and Appreciation Program cum Local Stakeholders’ Convergence, held on November 28, 2025 at Roxas City, DOST Capiz was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation for its active partnership and sustained support to various DepEd initiatives.The plaque was received by Ms. Juafe M. Abareles, Capiz Provincial S&T Director. 

The recognition specifically highlights S&T programs that support the development of future S&T professionals through expanding access to educational opportunities for deserving and talented learners in Capiz. One of the initiatives is the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) which provided public schools with access to offline digital science and technology resources. DOST Capiz’s support for the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) held in Capiz in September 10-12, 2025 was also acknowledged for engaging students and teachers in interactive STEM activities and exhibits, as well as the sustained implementation of DOST-SEI Scholarship Programs, including scholarship information drives, review sessions, and coordination with public secondary schools. 

These initiatives help reinforce the integration of science, technology, and innovation in educational activities, helping students cultivate scientific curiosity, strengthen science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills, and inspire students and teachers across the province. 

The recognition underscores DOST Capiz’s continuing dedication to fostering growth and supporting institutions in promoting accessible, high-quality education for all learners in Capiz. Through strengthened inter-agency collaboration, the agency remains focused on advancing programs that equip students, teachers, and communities with the tools and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world.
